You need to be signed into your Ferndesk workspace before connecting an integration. Make sure you're logged in and that you're in the correct organization. If you have access to multiple Ferndesk workspaces, switch to the one where you want to add the Intercom connection.
Intercom integration
Connect your Intercom account to Ferndesk so Fern can auto-update your help center using closed conversations from Intercom.
You'll need an active Intercom account to complete this integration. If you don't have one, create one on the Intercom website.
Connect Intercom
The connection happens in two parts: first in Ferndesk, then in Intercom.
Go to Integrations
From your Ferndesk dashboard, click Integrations in the sidebar and select the Support tab.
Make sure you're signed into the correct Ferndesk workspace. The integration will connect to the organization you're currently viewing.
Click Connect
Find Intercom in the integrations list and click Connect.
A dialog will appear asking you to confirm the connection.
Authorize in Intercom
Click Connect to open Intercom's authorization page. Log in to your Intercom account if you're not already logged in, then grant Ferndesk permission to access your Intercom conversations.
Ferndesk requests read access to your closed conversations. This allows Fern to learn from your support interactions and automatically update your help center.
After authorizing, you'll be redirected back to Ferndesk.
Confirm the connection
The Intercom card will show a green badge indicating a successful connection, and the button will change to Manage connections.
Connecting Intercom doesn't automatically process your conversations. You need to turn on monitoring to start importing support conversations and getting recommendations from Fern.
Manage connections
Click Manage connections on the Intercom card to view all active connections, add additional Intercom workspaces, or disconnect existing connections.
Troubleshooting
I see \"Authentication required to connect Intercom\"
I see \"Intercom OAuth organization does not match the active session\"
The Intercom account you're authorizing belongs to a different organization than the one you're signed into in Ferndesk. This can happen if you have access to multiple Intercom workspaces or Ferndesk organizations. Make sure you're:
Signed into the correct Ferndesk workspace
Authorizing the Intercom workspace that corresponds to that Ferndesk organization
If you need to connect a different Intercom workspace to a different Ferndesk organization, switch to that organization in Ferndesk first, then connect Intercom.
The authorization page shows an error or fails to load
This can happen if:
Your browser blocked a popup—check your browser's address bar for a blocked popup notification
Your session expired—try signing out of Ferndesk and signing back in
The OAuth state became invalid—close the authorization window and click Connect again in Ferndesk
