Agent Tasks automate the creation and updating of help articles in your knowledge base. Describe what you need, attach relevant files or links, and Fern handles the research and writing.

Creating a task

From the Fern page, use the prompt box to describe what you need. You can:

  • Create new articles on specific topics

  • Update existing articles with new information

  • Research and write content based on recommendations and signals

  • Edit articles for clarity or accuracy

Be specific about your requirements. More context leads to better results.

Three attachment icons are located at the bottom-left of the prompt box:

  • Image icon: PNG, JPEG, JPG, GIF, or WebP

  • Video icon: MP4, WebM, or QuickTime files

  • Document icon: PDF, TXT, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, or CSV

To attach files:

  1. Click the icon matching your file type

  2. Select your file, or drag and drop it into the prompt box— you can also paste files from your clipboard.

  3. Remove attachments by hovering and clicking the X

You can also paste links to external websites or YouTube videos in your task description.

If you get an unsupported file type error, verify your file matches the supported formats above. Convert to PDF or PNG if needed.

Submit the task

Click Create task to submit. Fern begins working immediately.
